Dodeez (“Dodeez”, “we”, “us”) is an iOS app that helps you save food places you find online or in person, pin them on a map, and revisit them later. This policy explains what data we collect, why, where it goes, and the choices you have.
We’ve tried to keep this short and in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us: nessine69@gmail.com.
Dodeez is operated by Lim Zi Quan, an individual developer based in Malaysia. You can reach us at nessine69@gmail.com.
| What we do | What we collect |
|---|---|
| Let you sign in | Email address (via magic link) |
| Show you on a map | Your device’s location (only while the app is open; never stored or sent to our servers) |
| Save places you bookmark | The URLs, captions, place names, addresses, and notes you save |
| Sync your saves across devices | A user ID and the data above, stored in our database |
| Identify the place from a shared link | Public content from that link (caption text), processed by an AI service |
| Suggest a likely location | The place name and address, sent to Google Places |
| Group features (Journeys) | Data you share with members of a Journey |
We do not collect advertising IDs, track you across other apps or websites, sell your data, or use it to train AI models.
To make Dodeez work, we send limited data to the following services. None of them sell your data or use it for advertising.
| Service | Purpose | What we send |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (Singapore region) | Authentication, database, file storage | Email, user ID, all data you save |
| Google Places API | Look up real-world place names and addresses | A text query (e.g. “Le Pho Hanoi, Bukit Bintang”) and optionally coordinates of a place |
| Groq (AI inference) | Read a shared post’s caption and extract the most likely place name | Just the caption text from the public link you shared. No user identity is sent. Model: llama-3.1-8b-instant. Groq does not store this content beyond the duration of the request and does not use it to train models. |
| Instagram / Threads / TikTok / YouTube | Fetch publicly available metadata (title, thumbnail) from links you share | A request to their public oEmbed / metadata endpoints. No personal data. |
OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org) |
Render map tiles | Standard tile requests containing the coordinates of the map area you’re viewing. OpenFreeMap is an open-source, no-account-required tile service and does not transmit user identity or account data. |
| Apple Push Notification service | Deliver notifications | Notification payload as described above |
ap-southeast-1).Under Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), you have the right to access, correct, and limit the processing of your personal data. If you are in the EU, UK, California, or other regions with privacy laws, you have additional rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, and lodging complaints with a regulator). Contact us to exercise any of them.
Dodeez is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, email us and we will delete it.
Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are not stored — we use one-time magic-link authentication. Database access is restricted by row-level security so users can only read their own data (and data explicitly shared via Journeys).
If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
